RTR - Rubber Tramp Rendezvous 2016

I'm a slacker. I admit it. I hardly took a picture and didn't take a single note at the RTR this year. I did, however, have a blast.

Thank you, one and all, for writing these blog posts so I didn't have to.

Post RTR fun

By now, you've read all about the RTR on other blogs. If you haven't, a list of blog posts about this years' Rubber Tramp Rendezvous can be found here.

A number of us stayed on (and on and on and on) in Quartzsite, after the RTR. The party continued and the RTR just kept getting better.

Days often began with coffee, in front of Theo

Tish's mornings began later than ours

There was plenty of good food. Lesa made some tasty breakfasts; pancakes one morning and biscuits and gravy another.

I made a couple of meals for the gang

Among them a breakfast consisting of fry bread and sausage gravy

and a chicken curry dish

Brian made pot stickers and others contributed various dishes to make a really tasty dinner.

Kev hosted a Super Bowl Party. Bryce made a delicious sausage soup.Steve brought chips and dip. Lindzee made humus and Brian made a cake.

The party continued until after dark.

We celebrated Brian's birthday with pizza and cake

Jenn was awoken on her birthday with  a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday that wouldn't end until she made an appearance. And we delivered breakfast, coffee and brownies. I know Jenn will be real sad to find out I can find those pictures anywhere.

Max and his wife, Bev, invited us down to his place for a fire, one night. Max is my hero. He's 86 and had both knees replaced about 10 years ago. He's put over 80,000 miles on those knees. His goal is 100, 000 miles. I hope to match his spirit and his miles!

I left Scaddan Wash and set up over at the Roadrunner BLM

My buddy Gilbert, from Dirtville came by

Gilbert let me win at poker, but he'll tell you I cheated.

Linda and D joined us

Who knew you could cook spaghetti squash on an open fire? Nicely done, D!

Linda made us Bangers and mashed, one night (that's sausage and smashed taters, Brit style)

Jenn and Brian (the Younger)came by and spent a few nights before heading to... who knows where?

I left Quartzsite on February 26 heading south and east. Many thanks, once again to D, for all his help with my rig; And to Gilbert and Brian for their help with Theo's solar set up!

Rubber Tramp Rendezvous 2012, January 10 -24

Last year's Rubber Tramp Rendezvous was so much fun I can't wait to get back there, in January. There's lots to the gathering besides the fun, that was just the icing on the cake. I met so many awesome people that are living my dream; and more awesome people in the planning mode, like myself. These great people were all so willing to share their knowledge, wisdom and experience.

The area in which we camped, at the base of Dome Mountain, was beautiful

We were far from the maddening crowds, yet only minutes away from Quartzsite. The site had easy access to head west to Blythe and Parker, for shopping, if you didn't want to deal with the crowds in town.

The sunrises

and sunsets

were breathtaking, although my camera and skills don't do them justice.

There were activities to interest everyone

Aficionados of Single Malt Scotch attended an educational experience in which they were able to taste both expensive brand names First Malt Scotch and obscure brands enabling them to compare and rate the bottles.

That particular event got funnier as the night got later

If you would like to participate in the 2nd Annual Single Malt Scotch Educational Experience you have a year to pick up either a really expensive or an obscure brand of Single Malt Scotch. Oh hell, just bring a bottle of scotch, next year. We're not that fussy!

The entertainment was non-stop

Thanks to Kaite and Alex we had several community meals that were beyond tasty! Everyone contributed something to help out.

This is the way to start off your day!

For more information with regard to events, seminars, what to bring and location visit click here. There is NOTHING provided. We strive to make this event as green as possible, whatever you bring in you must plan on hauling out.

Of course, none of this would be possible with Bob's two wonderful websites Cheap RV Living and Cheap Green RV Living

In case you missed the fun, here are a few places where you can read about it.

Rubber Tramp Rendezvous: Here's what you've missed so far

I ran out of data/air time so I had to wait to post. We're having a great time. There are so many good people here! It's great fun checking out every one's rigs, picking people's brains and hearing their stories. I can't even guess how many people have been in and out of camp. The weather has been AWESOME! The days have been warm, with temperatures in the low 80's one afternoon. Nights have been chilly, but that's why we have campfires.

Saturday January 15

Informational sharing: Bob led a discussion with regard to solar power. There are many knowledgeable people here and we're hoping to do an actual install, later. (When I say we, I don't mean me. I'll document with the camera!)

Alex making "community soup" for dinner

A mini swap meet (we all have stuff we don't use, you can sell it or give it away here.)

Gorgeous sunset

Nightly bonfire (a couple of attendees showed off their juggling skills, including juggling lit torches! Video's uploaded when I return to civilization or on the 27th if I haven't exceeded my data limit)

Sunday (Jan 16) Sunrise

Bob led a discussion with regard to use of public lands

Sunset

Monday (Jan. 18)
Morning at the campfire

You could have learned to juggle! Johnny gave Alex juggling lessons

Friday (Jan 21)
Sandy showed how to install a hightop on a van

Kirk shares his knowledge and use of wind power

I didn't take pictures, but on Monday we also had a group of women gather to discuss Rving/van dwelling and life on the road. Our discussion broached a number of subjects including safety, guns, traveling alone, our choice of rigs and so many more. Awesome women, great role models and plenty of laughs!

If you'd like to meet the Quartzsite RTR dogs, Stumpy introduces them on her blog.

More, tomorrow! I broke down and bought more air/data!
