What Happens In Quartzsite Doesn't Necessarily Stay In Quartzsite

Quartzsite Declares Emergency
Council ousts mayor; online video at center of dispute

It's no surprise to me, nor I am sure, to many others who spent time in Quartzsite this past winter. The rumblings in the belly of Quartzsite, by both residents and seasonal vendors were palpably loud. Things were going to get messy.

"... The far western Arizona town of Quartzsite was in a state of upheaval Monday after the town council ousted the mayor from power and declared a state of emergency, all over an online video that shows a woman being arrested..."

The video below has generated a lot of press for the small town, where many RVin' folk make their winter home.

  3. Having lived in Quartzsite for 3 winters seems as if this is a ongoing battle,Perhaps the council should just declare Quartzsite a communist state then they can legally impose their will on everyone who lives or visits there who does not see things their way. Thought we were still in the U.S.A guess our rights do not apply in this town and whats with the over zelouse cops? Unbelievable!

  5. You have no idea the emotions that kind of bureaucratic bs causes me. I worked in an atmosphere like that. Of course, one little girl pounced on by THREE leo's. According to the Rules of Richard, oh wait, they missed those. Okay, I guess might makes right, right?

  6. Bri, A really sad state of affairs...lunacy!

    Hitek, I think, as a whole, we're becoming well-trained.

Anonymous, The whole thing left me stunned and speechless. I am just so glad someone had the sense to video and make it public.

Carey, could we squeeze in a review of the Constitution, too?

Mihael, I have my own story and resulting nightmares; the result of 7 years of federal bullying. Unfortunately, I can relate only too well!

  7. Another sad example of someone who was probably a good person before gaining power succumbing to the evil influences of power. How horrible that the only person standing up for this woman's obvious right to speak was the Mayor, whom they then ousted for trying to actually follow the Open Meetings Act! Who was it who said "Power corrupts"?
